Hey, My Name is Rachel I am from Newcastle, I have two gorgeous boys I could talk about them all day but I won’t on here as I am sure you really want to know how our wax melt journey started?
let’s go back to the start (always a good place to start) When I was a teenager I used to go to town on a Saturday with my pocket money and sometimes a little extra my mam give me. Back then all that was available was either candles or wax tarts showing my age here.
Anyways I would come home with wax tarts and inflatable back packs or chairs and my mam just give me that look, you know the look I am on about as my room was full of them but I loved them and loved how I could change the small of my room when I wanted, Fast forward about 10 years I researched on how to make wax melts, what wax to use different fragrance oils etc and I came hooked after making my first one, I loved watching the colours dance I stirred the wax and the colour and the fragrance. I had my youngest at the start of the first lock down and I was making more wax melts than ever.
My partner then suggested to me we have so many why not sell them. I turned to him and asked was he being serious as I thought there is loads of people making them and mine probs won’t be that good I had so many doubts.
I started researching legally what I needed to do to sell them legally such as the CLPs etc.
Then came the hard job of what to call our business? I wanted to include my two boys somewhere in the business, So that’s where the W.T come from its their two initials, the I spoke to my oldest boy who was sitting down with you and he said what about beauty smells, I loved it but not the smells so much so I changed it to scents and that’s when W.T Beauty Scents was launched.
I took a deep breath and set up my first Facebook group and added a couple of friends and then they started adding there friends and so and I posted in the odd Facebook group and more people started to join my group. Then some orders started coming in.
I thought ok but will they come back? sure enough they did and the feedback I was blown away by at how much they loved them, how strong they are and how long they lasted and from there my little wax melt business that I started full of doubt grew and grew and I ended up with over 150 scents which was crazy ( I have scaled it back a little bit now) but here I am today with my website and an ever growing business. I am grateful for my partner for pushing me and being so supportive and I am so grateful for my customers who keep coming back and telling me how much they love them.
